Today's view of a cuckoo on the east side of Blacka Hill.
Nick Davies has written a book titled Cuckoo - Cheating by Nature. He talked about it on Radio Four's Start the Week.

His observations of cuckoos have been at the National Trust's site on Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire. It's said that numbers of cuckoos there have been declining in recent years. That's not seemed to be the case on Blacka. Shortly after the picture above was taken he flew off to be joined by another. The new arrival made no call suggesting it was more likely to be a female.
I shall not be contributing to the NT's appeal for £148,000 to build a bridge so that conservation grazers can go over the river!!
