We have to wait for the Meteorological Office to decide it is spring before we get a taste of winter. The meteorological spring starts on 1st of March while the astronomical spring waits to the 20th March.
A serious winter snowfall only qualifies if thick snow clings to branches and twigs, the texture of bark is picked out and ground shrubbery is transformed into something beguilingly fluffy.
