Where, What and Why.
Blacka Moor is on the South West edge of the City of Sheffield. It is 445 acres of mixed landscape. A fine place to escape from the madness of modern life, its noise, its hyper-activity and over-managed work-places. Here, for a lifetime, nature has gone its own way. It has not been driven by the plans, projects and priorities of organisations and people . This has been where to come to recover some humanity and calmness of spirit. But nowhere, it seems, can remain free for long from the influence of managers, specifically land managers of the self-serving conservation industry. And they have arrived here, bringing their barbed wire, their agri-environment subsidies and their self-justifying management plans intent on controlling that which calls out to be left alone.
