These early May mornings offer the chance to enjoy the wildlife before SWT release their destructive invaders to deposit all over the paths. The star just now is the Cuckoo; the Bird's Got Talent: he's certainly got effrontery. He's everywhere. There's always a small bird to rise to the bait. He must get a thrill from the adverse reaction.
Deer are resident stars and today were loving the sun. Hinds are better at remaining elegant while going through the moult. A close look shows areas of skin revealed as the fluffy winter coat peels off.
We live in an age when people don't think twice about altering their appearance, and even their body, in ways unthinkable in the past. How long before the possession of a long flexible neck becomes the must-have beauty aid for the human female?

Bird numbers vary from year to year. Cuckoos are more in evidence than this time last year; more like two years ago. Another increase is in the numbers of Blackbirds while not so many Thrushes. There are larger numbers of smaller warblers to be heard but fewer Blackcaps and Garden Warblers so far. Pheasants seem to be honking everywhere
