Sing for Spring

Throughout the winter I've wondered which of the three robins was, or were, male. This morning's recital should have left no doubt.

The hen blackbird looks ready too. She only appeared part way through January, made her choice of mate  and is now building up her strength for the season to come. I'm still seeing berries on the moor.

The coal tit is the one most resistant to the camera, constantly fidgeting.

Our favourite though is the oldie here who 6 months ago looked to have only a short time left. His head was bald and the rest of him dishevelled. The nourishment we were able to provide each morning may have helped him recover. I like to think so. Not as sleek as some of the others but he makes up for it with personality and will power.
