Double Standards

Surely the trustees of Sheffield Wildlife Trust see themselves as right thinking with proper views on all things especially all things conservation. As such they would take it as unquestioned that SWT should print its publicity material on recycled paper, some may think hardly a difficult choice.

I would also expect them to support Greenpeace's campaign to protect the Sumatran tiger and WWF's campaign on the African elephant.

You might forgive some of the impoverished people of those regions if they asked searching questions of those who assume any sort of moral authority. The first one might well be 'Who gains from the profitability of the palm oil companies and the ivory traders and the deforesting industry?'

'But what about the areas of your own countries that you have responsibility for?' could be the next question.
'You do, of course protect the native wildlife in your own backyard, do you not? Because if you exploit the land for gain and jobs and destroy wildlife how could you possibly expect us to do what you are asking?'

Some native Blacka Moor wildlife currently under threat:

1 The Bended Knee Pine

2 Birch - target of the recreational chainsaw operatives.
