Fourteen Plus .... and plus?

A dull morning improved on coming across the old stag, Baron of Blacka. The number of his points has sometimes been disputed. Taking his left side - right as you look - he definitely has seven. Double that is fourteen. But on his right side there are eight. So 15 points it is. The lesson is you can't rely on symmetry in this, though it's understandable to short cut when it's so difficult to get an ideal view. For once that was not a problem today.

Now the really interesting thing is what happens next month and after. He'll be due to drop his antlers in March and it's the thing to get more points each year as the new set grows. In his shoes I think I would be tempted to say enough is enough. The weight alone must be a disincentive.

But what a magnificent beast. And totally outside management control.
