Detail

Two people have said more or less the same thing to me about this wall. We don't like the fact that this land has been enclosed at all but at least in this case the wall has been well built. First impressions are alright certainly, but look a bit closer.

Some of the stones are machine cut with smooth faces. To a craftsman this is not something to be proud of. Of course he may be constrained by the materials he's presented with. I wonder if anyone who knew something about walling looked over the job before the contractors were paid. The job was done rather late in the day before the cattle were brought in last year. The funds were provided by Natural England.
