New Life

The small brown shell of the beech nut is commonly found under beech trees of which there are a number in the woods to the north of Blacka between Hathersage Road and SWT's barbed wire fence. This one is unusual in that it comes from the solitary beech out towards the heath, next to SWT's disastrous tree poisoning wasteland. Some seeds have got as far as the second stage after the seed leaves.

Let us hope (and hope springs eternal) that SWT's war on the trees does not destroy this one; the new season for serious destruction is nearly upon us as the cattle prepare to move in.
