May Morning

Those who didn't listen to my wise words about the coming frost may be regretting so as they inspect their tender plants.

Frost on heather and cotton grass

Some bracken shoots were looking distinctly sickly this morning while others had not been affected.

Skylarks have been entertaining us on the top pastures regularly each morning. I've tried to get a decent recording but the wind has caused too much interference. This morning was perfectly still, the sun was dazzling and traffic noise was conveniently distant. But skylarks were not in the mood to perform. Wildlife can be awkward.

Having been out all night in the cold, several deer were browsing on the new rowan leaves as they were warming in the early sun.
